On October 17, 2011, I had a spinal cord stimulator implanted in the lumbar area of my back.  Prior to this procedure I had undergone about every treatment other than back surgery.  From steroid injections periodically to prescription gels, Lidoderm pain patches, therapy and all with the same results, temporary relief at best. 

I had consultations with two independent surgeons and after MRI’s, X Rays, they independently arrived at the same conclusion, surgery would likely not be beneficial for me and I would likely suffer ongoing pain.  After being briefed on the neuro stimulator, I decided to have the procedure performed.  I am here to say it was the best decision I’ve ever made regarding my back pain.  After the test procedure was complete I had the procedure.  I would without hesitation recommend that anyone who has tried everything and had no success that they should give this procedure and implant a serious look.

'Patience with patients' could easily be Dr. Gwinn's motto. I've been seeing Dr. Gwinn for several years for degenerative joint disease and cervical spondylosis. I'm often depressed about my situation and things I can no longer do. When I leave the examining room, he has addressed every issue with me. I find his bedside manner to be impeccable and the best medicine ever. The nursing and office staff are wonderful and I must also mention the staff in the physical therapy department are also great. Thank you all!

After years of suffering with back pain I was referred to Dr. Gwinn at Carolina Back Institute. What an amazing experience! It is not very often where you are treated as a person, not a chart number. Dr. Gwinn and his staff have gone above and beyond in assisting me with alternatives to help relieve my pain.
